چکیده

Here we present a review of x-ray absorption spectroscopy and x-ray Raman scattering with the perspective to understand the spectra of water including changes with temperature, mass of the water molecule and presence of monovalent ions. The different detection schemes are discussed and it is concluded that transmission x-ray absorption measurements, using a small area where the thickness is uniform, and x-ray Raman scattering give the most reliable spectra. Different model systems are discussed such as the surface and bulk of ice and various adsorbed monolayer structures on metal surfaces. * Corresponding author: [email protected]

X-ray-induced Dissociation of H2O and Formation of an O2-H2 Compound at High Pressure

In this work we used inelastic X-ray scattering to study the high-pressure behavior of H2O. At lower pressures and low temperatures, X-ray Raman spectroscopy (XRS) is used for investigating water, ice Ih, ices II and IX. At higher pressures we discovered new radiation chemistry in the H2O system. A new compound composed of molecular oxygen and hydrogen was formed after X-ray irradiation of the ...

Probing the local structure of liquid water by X-ray absorption spectroscopy.

It was recently suggested that liquid water primarily comprises hydrogen-bonded rings and chains, as opposed to the traditionally accepted locally tetrahedral structure (Wernet et al. Science 2004, 304, 995). This controversial conclusion was primarily based on comparison between experimental and calculated X-ray absorption spectra (XAS) using computer-generated ice-like 11-molecule clusters. H...

Bulk-sensitive XAS characterization of light elements: from X-ray Raman scattering to X-ray Raman spectroscopy

X-Ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) is a powerful tool for element-specific characterization of local structure and chemistry. Although application of XAS in the hard X-ray region is now routine, the soft X-ray region (containing light-element K-edges) presents a number of experimental problems. Most of the difficulties, including surface sensitivity, restricted sample environments, and radiati...

An investigation on absorption properties of exfoliated graphite for oil spill from Caspian Sea water

Oil spills are the most important environmental impact in oceans and seas. In this article, Oil absorption, which was explored from Sardar-e-Jangal oilfield in Caspian Sea, by exfoliated graphite (EG), was investigated. Graphite was exfoliated through the reaction of graphite-CrO3 intercalation compounds with hydrogen peroxide. The obtained absorbent was characterized by Brunauer-Emmett-Teller ...

بررسی خواص ساختاری و مغناطیسی نانوذرات فریت بیسموت با جانشانی دوگانه لانتانیوم و باریم

In this research, nanoparticles Bi1-x-yBayLaxFeO3 (BByLxFO (with values (x = 0.0, 0.05, 0.1) and (y = 0.0, 0.15) synthesized by a sol–gel  method. The structural, microstructural and magnetic properties have been investigated, using X-ray diffraction, Raman scattering, field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), FTIR  spectroscopy, and magnetometry measurements at room temperature. T...
